Candi’s Journey

Candice Davis was 30 years-old when she lost portions of all four limbs after a serious bout with COVID-19. Her discharge from the hospital was the start of a new life.

“I have to be able to move forward,” she said. “I do believe there’s a reason I’m still here…God orchestrated a lot of things so that I didn’t die.”

Those closest to her have noted the mental resilience she displays in spite of the challenges.

“What I appreciate so much about Candi is that she’s this vibrant, positive light … but she’s also really open about grieving her former life and grieving her body before COVID,” said Cate Thurman, occupational therapist. “You have to be so unbelievably strong and resilient to do what she’s done. I think a lot of people didn’t expect her to be able to walk or stand or have the independence she’s chasing now.”
