Heartbeat of Mardi Gras

The high school marching bands of New Orleans don’t just bring the music and energy to Mardi Gras season, but also tradition and culture. They are made up of multiple teams within a team, including the color guard and majorettes alongside the band itself. They move at a frenetic pace from the moment they line up to march, rehearsing in their spare time or battling with another band before stepping down St. Charles Avenue to thousands of spectators lined up underneath the live oak trees. With every mile walked they represent discipline, dedication, camaraderie and pride.
